KMX recently hosted a Technology Tour and Opening Ceremony of its new laboratory in Mississauga, Ontario. The team was honored to host government officials and management from Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd., KMX’s strategic partner of core elements.

The Technology Tour included an overview of various unique aspects of KMX’s technology, with discussions led by key members of the company’s technical team.
Dr. Matt Narrol demonstrated KMX’s lab scale vacuum membrane distillation unit. Dr. Sean Ghayeni gave an overview of KMX’s proprietary Generation III membrane core element, manufactured by Sumitomo Electric. Mostafa Nosraty, P. Eng. presented a commercial scale system rendering, currently planned for a leading lithium miner.

Mayor Bonnie Crombie of the City of Mississauga provided closing remarks highlighting the burgeoning clean energy and battery ecosystem in Mississauga and Ontario. The KMX team is grateful for Mayor Crombie’s attendance, as well as the attendance of other regional representatives, including Director of Economic Development, Bonnie Brown.

KMX was honored to host Sumitomo Electric for the Technology Tour, and greatly appreciated Sumitomo Electric management making the journey from Japan to meet the KMX team and view the performance of KMX’s proprietary Generation III membranes.
KMX’s Generation III technology leverages Sumitomo Electric’s best-in-class manufacturing expertise and its proprietary PTFE POREFLONTM hollow fiber materials, “which has exceptionally high hydrophobic characteristics and thermal resistance”, optimal for KMX’s proprietary membrane design.
