It was a solid first half of 2025 for KMX.
Policy tailwinds are building, manufacturing progress remains on-track, and our commercial momentum continues to grow.
In this update, I’ll provide additional insights into:
- Tailwinds for Oil & Gas Produced Water Desalination
- KMX’s North American Expansion
- Manufacturing Update and Outlook
Tailwinds for Oil & Gas Produced Water Desalination
First, the KMX team is proud to congratulate TETRA Technologies for winning the prestigious 2025 Hart Energy Special Meritorious Engineering Award (MEA) for Innovation.
The award recognizes TETRA’s groundbreaking contribution to sustainable water management and advanced desalination technology.
KMX’s Vacuum Membrane Distillation (VMD) technology plays a role in the desalination of produced water within the TETRA Oasis TDS, following TETRA’s proprietary pre-treatment process.
We look forward to continuing to support the TETRA team as momentum continues to build for produced water desalination.
Big Policy Updates for Produced Water Desalination
Over the past few months, there have been three major policy developments for produced water desalination, including:
- New Texas Railroad Commission Guidelines
- Texas Governor Signs Law Allowing Sale of Produced Water
- Supreme Court of Texas Ruling – Produced Water Ownership
We believe the combination of these three recent policy developments has provided clarity ahead of significant investment into produced water desalination in the decades ahead.
KMX’s North American Expansion
We are excited to share details of our North American expansion. KMX’s Ontario operations will be moving into an expanded facility in the region to accommodate the team’s increased piloting customer interest and capabilities.
Following the opening of KMX’s new Ontario laboratory later this year, we are excited to commence new pilot work with industry leaders looking to utilize KMX’s unique technology, including a recently announced Europe-based Fortune 500 company.
Additionally, we are excited to continue to welcome new team members and partners in the U.S. and Canada as we further expand our North American footprint.
Manufacturing Update and Outlook
KMX currently has multiple systems being manufactured in the United States, and the team remains focused on expanding our U.S. manufacturing capacity.
The operations team continues to navigate the current trade and supply-chain dynamics well and is on-track to deliver these systems in-line with customer expectations.
As KMX’s order book continues to grow, we look forward to continuing to scale our manufacturing capacity with our manufacturing and industry partners.
Up Next:
Next, we will provide an update on our lithium work and the favorable long-term outlook for lithium development, despite the recent pullback in prices.
We also look forward to providing additional details on our new Ontario-based laboratory.
